The Groups:
The HNA currently maintains several text groups via WhatsApp for the purpose of sharing information more quickly than email:
- Highlands Emergency Text - For URGENT and/or time-sensitive information only. Permissible topics include: wild animal sightings, severe weather and/or power outage information, missing child, missing or found pet, theft/or vandalism alert, suspicious vehicle or suspicious activity, or neighbor in distress. We do not want residents to "mute" this thread, so please limit replies unless necessary. -It goes without saying that we are ALL appreciative of shared emergency news/information.
- Highlands General Topic - For anything else. Quick question, lost/found objects, relevant community announcements, etc.
- Highlands School/Bus Chat - There are three SDOC bus stops in our neighborhood, and this chat is most often active in the beginning of a school year when the district is sorting out bus schedules. This is a useful group for working parents who rely on the bus for transportation.
- Covid/Senior Support - We have many active seniors in our neighborhood. This group is utilized in the event that a senior might need assistance, particularly while covid is an active concern for many.
The Rules:
- Keep the Emergency Text thread for urgent/time-sensitive information only. Use the GENERAL thread for everything else.
- Please limit repeat announcements. (ie: dog poop violations). If the first and/or second message did not achieve a desired result, then either the offenders are not on that given thread, or they don't care about it as an issue.
- No personal attacks, veiled or otherwise.
- Do not share phone numbers or contact information of any member of the Highlands Neighborhood without their permission.
